An Art Deco Affair

Inspired by Art Deco architecture, Jeffrey and Romel chose to celebrate their marriage with a sleek, all-black, 5-tier wedding cake at the lavish Whitmoor Country Club last June. The cake featured two tiers covered with edible 23k gold leaf, and was stylized with black and gold decorative, geometric details. The top two tiers featured a series of set backs that created a stepped outline, commonly found in architecture from the Art Deco era. For any cakers wanting to incorporate this look in their next cake, a downloadable template is available here.

When you see the back of this cake, ‘Miss Mary Mack’ might spring to mind, but those gold buttons down the back hid a gorgeous surprise for two lucky wedding guests!

Not to be outdone by western weddings, this culture-fusion wedding included a Peruvian Cake Pull. Two gorgeous rings attached to ribbons were placed inside the cake and then hidden amongst a flurry of other ribbons. As friends and family gathered around the cake to see if they could pull the rings, the cake cutting ceremony was transformed into a circle of love surrounding the couple. What a beautiful tradition. We love being able to incorporate these special touches into our couples’ wedding cakes.

Now, one year later, we’ve just had the pleasure of recreating a bit of J + R’s wedding magic in an anniversary cake. Inspired by the design of their wedding cake, this 8 layer feast cake was created using the flavor that they didn’t have time to try on their big day—decadent chocolate cake paired with coffee mocha buttercream and whipped chocolate ganache. In addition to being wrapped in a 3D shell of edible 23k gold leaf with black royal icing details, we were sure to include a hand-painted copy of their custom monogram to tie it all together. Happy Anniversary Jeffrey and Romel, we wish you many years of love, health and happiness. Xx

Let Me Show You the World (in Cake)

One of the emerging trends from 2016 was Cake Trios. That means not one, not two, but three individual wedding cakes designed to compliment each other. WHOA! I know! That's some serious cake love right there. They take a little bit more work, but the effort is well worth it. Take a look at Abby and Troy's wedding cake trio set below and judge for yourself. What do you think, are you loving this trend as much as me? Now, I could be biased, because I'm pretty much gonna love anything blush and rose gold, but I just ADORE this set...and the couple that I created this for was pretty sweet too. Congratulations Abby and Troy—keep showing each other the world.

Sugar Flowers: David Austin Roses done in dusty blush, Dark Dahlias and Black-centered Anemonies.

Gotta give credit where credit is due. We took inspiration from the fabulous Erica OBrien and put a De la Creme spin on this global cake design.

Sweet Pea Petite Wedding Cake

Loved working with Lynn and Ginger to create this petite cake to fit their serving needs while designing to fit their combined sense of style. After all, even the smallest, most intimate wedding, deserves a beautiful cake!

Sparkling Celadon Wedding Cake

Every so often, we create a wedding cake so tall (and heavy), that we cannot assemble it at the studio. Jacqueline's wedding cake was such a cake. So we shot each deconstructed tier and then carefully boxed them up for the journey to the venue where we assembled the masterpiece for the first time. Seeing all the planning and hard work come together, and watching the vision finally come to life, I've got to admit, it's a bit a bit of a rush...I think that makes me a bit of a cake-geek, but I don't care, I love what I do!! :-)

Wedding Luxury

Congratulations Lindsey and Jess! It was an honor and a true pleasure to create the wedding cake of your dreams for you. We love everything about this cake, from the sugar peonies and quatrefoil pattern, to the edible silver leaf tiers. And as beautiful as this cake looked in the studio, we just had to share one of the reception shots from Chandler Hill Vineyards—such a gorgeous setting for this sophisticated wedding cake.

Birch Tree Wedding Cake

Hello 2016! And what better way to start the new year than with a rustic, winter-themed New Year's Day wedding cake. Frosted berries, chocolate pinecones (I'm sure they tasted amazing) and a stunning magnolia blossom all came together to accent the three, hand-painted birch tree tiers. With each tier boasting it's own flavor, (Chocolate Cake with Mocha Buttercream, French Vanilla Cake with Amaretto Buttercream and Carrot Cake with French Vanilla Buttercream), all the guest were sure to find something they loved. Congratulations Elaine and Ryan!

EDIT: A tutorial is available for the Birch Tree Texture and Chocolate Pinecones!

Hidden amongst the floral cluster, the couple's initial could be seen carved into the "tree"

Fifty Shades of Blush Cakes

Our client for this blushing trio is a wedding planner (OMG, no pressure)…so we knew that this bridal shower was going to be, not only beautiful, but trendsetting. And whoa...were we right or what?! With the event affectionately christened Fifty Shades of Blush, we set out to create a set of cakes that would live up to the name. We kept it feminine—gorgeous flower details, intricate petal work and hand-painted, custom lettering. Add a little tailored ribbon for that parisian flair and a sprinkling of glittery gold, and we ended up delivering three delectable creations that are totally blush-worthy. Be sure to check out the event pictures over on Style Me Pretty.

"Affectionately called Fifty Shades of Blush, the brand new Silver Oaks Chateau provided the perfect backdrop for a Parisian-style, open flower market [bridal shower]. The blush and gold tones of the cakes by De la Creme Studio pulled together the tablescape and were just as sweet as the stationery by Paperkeet."
