Oh Snap! Fuzzy Monkey just went 3D!! For those of you who remember the Fuzzy Monkey Baby Shower Cake we created last year, well, 'Baby Xavier' just turned one (I know, how time flies!) and in a few short months he will be getting a new sibling. So we teamed up with Courtney and Joe again (mom and dad) to continue the theme and created a combined first birthday cake for Xavier and a gender-reveal cake for the new baby. Curious?…it's gonna be a boy!!! Who would have thought that a fuzzy little monkey would become the star of his own cake and then grow up to become a cute three-dimensional edible cake topper?!
For the birthday boy who loves dinosaurs, we created a fun Stegosaurus cake for him and his friends to devour. French Vanilla Cake with Hazelnut Buttercream, Chocolate Cake with White Chocolate Mousse, and don't forget those magical mushrooms—I taste-tested one, (you know, for quality control purposes) and they were delicious!
"Steg" the baby dinosaur was amazing to bring to life in the studio. He was four inches tall, green and covered in scales...not the usual qualities I look for...but he absolutely stole my heart!
Congratulations Lindsey and Jess! It was an honor and a true pleasure to create the wedding cake of your dreams for you. We love everything about this cake, from the sugar peonies and quatrefoil pattern, to the edible silver leaf tiers. And as beautiful as this cake looked in the studio, we just had to share one of the reception shots from Chandler Hill Vineyards—such a gorgeous setting for this sophisticated wedding cake.
The 2016 Maserati GranTurismo is a pretty sweet car. There's no denying it. But our version is made with layers of French vanilla cake, caramel buttercream, and white chocolate ganache—now that's pretty sweet! Happy Birthday Joel! This car suits you perfectly and I'm just saying, I'm gonna need you to pick me up for a test-spin, the minute you get the real thing!! :-)
When a super-awesome, chuck-taylor-wearing photographer needs a sweet favor as part of her rebranding strategy, We. Go. All. Out!! Not only did we create a few dozen logo cookies, but we designed and created some oh-my-goodness-they-are-too-cute-to-eat camera and chuck-taylor cookies to match. I love this fun and funky chick, and her photography skills rock. Check her out over at www.pinxit.photo.
Sugar (not spice) is what these shoes are made of!!! But who would want to eat such a little beauty?! Well, luckily for us, we don't have to make that decision. It's all up to Sherryl to answer the question, "Keep or Eat?" Personally, I'd keep the shoe and cut myself a nice big slice of the French Vanilla Cake with Salted Caramel Buttercream!!! :-P
Cake, royalty, and that extra wow-factor. That is how we helped this mother-to-be welcome Baby Zay into the world… we just happen to think it couldn't be any more perfect than that. Unless of course, you add in a dozen royal cupcakes as well. Congratulations on your new arrival, may he be as sweet as this cake ;-)
EDIT: A tutorial is available on how to create this edible royal crown.
Hello 2016! And what better way to start the new year than with a rustic, winter-themed New Year's Day wedding cake. Frosted berries, chocolate pinecones (I'm sure they tasted amazing) and a stunning magnolia blossom all came together to accent the three, hand-painted birch tree tiers. With each tier boasting it's own flavor, (Chocolate Cake with Mocha Buttercream, French Vanilla Cake with Amaretto Buttercream and Carrot Cake with French Vanilla Buttercream), all the guest were sure to find something they loved. Congratulations Elaine and Ryan!
EDIT: A tutorial is available for the Birch Tree Texture and Chocolate Pinecones!
What better way to celebrate an avid gardener's 75th birthday than with a watering can cake full of beautiful sugar flowers. This was a sweet little cake for an intimate gathering, with an even sweeter interior of french vanilla cake and strawberry buttercream. Yum!
This was such an awesome request. Ms. Bair, the birthday girl (who just turned fifty) has always dreamed of starting her own wine label, she even has a name picked out—Two Bairs! Her friends and family, wanting to surprise her with an edible version of what that dream could look like, contacted us to make the magic happen.
This cake started long before we began baking. First we designed a custom company logo, then we created a fun wine label with two dancing bears that could be replicated on edible paper. Then we baked. And the rest is just a little cake we threw together with epic results (did we mention that it's 100% edible?!) Oh, and we also made some gorgeous sugar grapes. But don't let their healthy appearance fool you, this cake was sheer indulgence...rich chocolate cake, and decadent chocolate mousse topped with chocolate ganache...but you only turn fifty once, right?!
